Welcome to the Marshfield Youth Basketball Site!

Marshfield Youth Basketball was formed in 1975 as a town wide basketball program open to all school age boys and girls.  The program offers both recreational and competitive basketball  leagues. Our focus is on learning good sportsmanship, team play and, respect for others, while developing fundamental skills, and understanding the rules of the game.

The program is run completely by volunteers with the goal of providing a safe and fun youth sports experience for the children in Marshfield.

In 2013/2014, the MYB Town Recreational Program had over 810 participants playing on a total of 82 teams. Our Travel Team programs combined had over 320 participants on 29 different teams.

Thanks to the continued support of the community and the help of our many volunteers.

Message from the President of Marshfield Youth Basketball - Bob Ahearn

As I start my final year as President of Marshfield Youth Basketball after serving for five years, I wanted to thank all of the current and former Marshfield Youth Basketball Board members who volunteered many hours of their time for the youth of Marshfield.  There are over 1,100 children who annually play basketball in some capacity or another for Marshfield Youth Basketball.  It takes a great deal of time and effort to organize both our travel basketball and recreation basketball programs.  Between, uniforms, tryouts, equipment, gym time, league meetings, registration and a host of other responsibilities, the board did a great job keeping things running smoothly.
During the last 5 years, I am very proud of a number of new innovations we have implemented including:
  1. Introduced A, B & C travel teams.  So an additional 7 kids can play travel basketball
  2. Passed new policy of 11 players on a team instead of 12.  This means more playing time and development
  3. Created a new website and made all registration, scheduling and notifications online
  4. Started a partnership with Dick’s Sporting Goods
  5. Implemented the first informational night for parents of travel basketball players
  6. Re-organized the structure of the Board
  7. Purchased Referee shirts for the high school kids who referee our rec games
  8. Implemented a referee training program with Dave Dahlquist
  9. Started an A and B team for 4th and 5th grade boys instead of 2 equal teams
  10. Started a Coaches appreciation night each year
  11. Revamped the recreation basketball program for grades 1-3 with Ed Camilio
As I leave the board at the end of the basketball season, I issue a challenge to all parents. Please consider volunteering your time next year. I have coached basketball for over 13 years and have found the experience quite rewarding. We have a turnover of coaches, board members and volunteers each year. For more information, please visit our website www.marshfieldyouthbasketball.com. It has been my honor to serve on the board the last 5 years and I will continue to support Marshfield Youth Basketball.
