Boys & Girls Town Recreational Program
The MYB Recreational Program is designed to offer a skills and developmental environment for 1st through 12th grade students to learn and play basketball. The purpose of the program is to advance the players’ basketball skills, and team, play in a fun environment. No previous experience required – players of all skill levels are welcome! It is open to all girls and boys in grades 1 through 12 and meets on Saturdays.
Tyhe main objectives of the program is to have fun, get exercise, and learn some basketball skills. The emphasis for grades 1 - 3 is to lay the proper skills foundation for players to learn the game so that they may go on to play recreationally, or join the MYB Travel program, with a comfortable skill set of what it takes to play the game and have fun doing it.
The games are held on Saturday mornings at various gyms in Marshfield and the program runs from December through March. The month of December is used for skills practice for all grades with skill development continuing for grades 1 & 2 throughout the year, and full court games added in, for grade 3, at the half way point. For grades 4 and up the games start the first week in January, after the holiday vacation. There are games played every Saturday morning from January through March, with the exception of the school vacation week in February. Each team has approximately 10-12 players and is coached by parent volunteers. The games are refereed by paid, high school student referees.
Once again, this year MYB will have competitive basketball games for both girls and boys grades 4-12. We believe this will continue to encourage interest in our program while having healthy competition and fun.
There are NO TRYOUTS for the Recreational Program, everyone makes the team, however, late registrants may be put on a waiting list. Players registering late will be taken off the waiting list and placed on a team as space permits on a first-come first-served basis. Cancelation of games due to inclement weather will be posted on the Home/News page of this website with email notices sent out as well.
MYB provides insurance coverage for all players.

Every year we have a new group of players sign up for Marshfield Youth Basketball at all different levels. We are always in need of coaches and thrilled to see new faces. This includes parents, older siblings, previous high school and college players. If you feel you lack knowledge about the game, or are uncomfortable about coaching alone, you can assist another coach. You are guaranteed to have a great time with the kids when you volunteer to coach.
