The MYB Travel League is open to the following:

• Girls Grades 3-8
• Boys Grades 3-8

 

How are teams created?

• Tryout by evaluation process. 4 to 5 evaluators per tryout.
• Two (2) tryouts per grade except 3rd grade.
• Only (1) tryout REQUIRED, but both highly encouraged to make ¨A¨ teams.
• Head Coach evaluations are submitted from prior year to aid in placement.
• Head Coaches are a part of the 2nd tryout and are instrumental in matching up players for 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 games during tryouts.
• EVERY player has a chance to make the team they are striving for in our process.
• Coaches are placed AFTER tryouts. Players will not be placed on teams simply because a parent shows interest in coaching.

 

What is the difference between the MYB Travel and Recreation Leagues?

• The travel program offers a higher level of competition for players looking to elevate their play.
• Teams will travel to other South Shore towns.
• MYB asks that basketball be your main winter sport.
• Travel is an increased level of commitment over our MYB Recreation League.
• All Travel players will be rostered on to Recreation teams for NO FEE unless they decline Rec. More info to come.

 

What is the committment?

• Basketball should be your PRIMARY sport for ¨A team¨ players.
• If your child can not make basketball their primary commitment then parents should indicate on registration form ¨Do not consider for Top Team¨.
• There are 2 practices per week.
• There are 1-2 games on the weekends. Games start on the 1st and 2nd weekend of December.
• Practices start early November.
• Season runs through mid March.
• Teams may participate in 1-3 tournaments which are included in their Travel fees.
• Average cost of the Travel Program is $350.
• New players will have to order uniforms through the RAS online store. Details to come, but the average price over the last 3 years has been $80 total.

• Strongly encourage registration prior to tryouts! It makes it easier for all.
• Fees are only charged to players accepting roster spots.
